Time Alignment – The Sweet Spot is All in the Timing

concert sweet spotThere is a reason that some tickets at a concert cost more than others. “The best seat in the house” is the spot where all of the sounds meet perfectly to capture the perfect essence of the music, with no echoes, no feedback, no discordant sounds.

Audiophiles know that you can do the same thing in a vehicle, and make any spot in your car become ‘the sweet spot’. It’s called ‘time alignment’. Higher end Audison, JVC and Alpine head units have the ability to be electronically ‘time aligned’, which delays different speakers in the car so that the music gets to a certain point at the same time. Usually we’re asked to make the driver’s head the primary sweet spot, but we also can add a couple more listening positions so that when there are more people in the car, the sound can be switched to a different setting.

Time alignment involves a bit of physics and math – and a bit of art and talent combined with your personal preferences. And at The StereoShop, we can find the perfect sweet spot for you and your vehicle. Give us a call today if you want to have the best seat in the house each time you get into your vehicle!
